Plaza Heneral Santos and More

Apparently, I have been home this Christmas Break. And on December 30, 2009, which is Rizal Day (the day we believe that Jose Protacio Rizal y Alonzo Realonda, the Philippine's National Hero, was shot to death in Bagumbayan, Manila, which is now the Luneta Park), I ambushed Akiko Lyn Marcos Villanueva on a laag, or a (oh what word is it??) - uhh, let's put it this way: it's sort of a trip. In Filipino, it's termed as pasyal or lakwatsa.

Here is the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Parish in the heart of Dadiangas. I so love this church, where I was baptized and where I usually go to. And I witnessed it's full renovation over the years. I feel so sad that my family switched to a nearer church, the Saint Michael Parish. I still would like to go to mass at OLPGV.

Now this is the Plaza Heneral Santos, worth enough to say that it's the most beautiful park in the city, swear (because we don't have any more beautiful parks that people could really go into).

And this is Akiko, a high school classmate and a very very incredible friend. And she takes us on a tour.

Here's a view of the General Santos City Hall.

We saw the local ABS-CBN team. I don't know what they're up to though. My parents keep on watching GMA (which has dubbed some commercials into Bisaya, and it freaks me out), so I don't have news on ABS-CBN. I wouldn't care anyway.

Here's a shot of Jose Rizal's statue in front of the city hall. It's a usual plaza setup in the Philippines.

And here's the statue of General Paulino Santos facing the Sarangani Bay through Pioneer Avenue.

Yeah, someone took the T or S. Or may be it just got off and maintenance people picked it up. Oh please just bring it back! :)

An arc of Christmas greeting in the delta of Pioneer Avenue.

And I was prettily surprised to find out that General Paulino Santos and his wife's remains are placed here. Why had I not known that before?

Akiko and I found this empty bench (among LOTS of other benches and I love these benches!) and we stayed there for a bit (of camwhoring).

And the park also features a pond, which has koi-looking carp fish.

And there's a cute bridge. XD

And there's this fountain.

And we found ourselves (back) at KCC Mall of GenSan (after we went to Plaza Heneral Santos and walked to Oval Plaza to see the bazaar that was rather emptied of people), to meet Joanna Lyn Ancorda, another friend, and she treated us at Chowking. Yum!

It was a fantastically nice day! I would definitely want to repeat it again! :D
